The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Building Project stands as a beacon of the Nepali diaspora’s dedication to fostering enduring ties with their homeland. Initiated with a strategic land acquisition on January 12, 2015, this project quickly gained momentum with the laying of its foundation stone by the Right Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Sushil Koirala, on March 15, 2015. This initiative underscores the support and acknowledgment from both the government and the community, further boosted by a tax exemption from the Council of Ministers on May 14, 2015, and the approval of the building plinth level plans by Kathmandu Metropolitan City on July 16, 2016.
The construction of the NRNA Building, completed at a cost of around NPR 300 million, culminated in a grand inauguration on NRN Day, October 11, 2018. This modern facility, strategically located to serve as the NRNA’s headquarters, embodies the aspirations of Nepalis worldwide, providing a central hub for administrative, cultural, and developmental activities. Its design harmoniously blends modern architectural elements with traditional Nepali aesthetics, symbolizing a bridge between Nepal and its global community.
This project not only provides a permanent space for the NRNA’s various initiatives but also marks a significant step towards realizing the potential of the Nepali diaspora to contribute meaningfully to Nepal’s development. The building’s inauguration on NRN Day highlights the unity and collective spirit of Nepalis across the globe, reaffirming their commitment to the socio-economic upliftment of Nepal through collaborative efforts and shared visions.
